Who this is for
Teachers, school counselors, advisory leads and librarians who want students to explore careers from their own interests. Teachers already share the test with their classes through Google Classroom, Schoology and Canvas; this page puts the facts and a lesson flow in one place.
What students do
Students open my-career-path.com in a web browser on a school laptop, tablet or phone. There is nothing to install and no account to create. The test has 5 sections of questions — interests, work style, scenarios, skills and visual choices — answered with picture cards, either-or choices and ratings. It takes about 10–15 minutes.
There are no right or wrong answers: it asks what students like to do, not what they can do.
Spanish-speaking students can take the test in Spanish at my-career-path.com/es/.
What students get
- A profile across Holland's six interest types (RIASEC): Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional.
- A list of careers that match their top types, drawn from a database of 500+ careers.
- Results on screen as soon as they finish, scored with fixed rules, so the same answers always give the same scores.
The test and its free results cost nothing. After the results, the page also offers optional paid reports; nobody needs to buy anything for this lesson.
It is an interest inventory for exploration and discussion, built on Holland's published RIASEC framework. We do not claim external validation, so please do not use it for selection or placement decisions. How the test works.
How to use it in class: before, during, after
- Before (5 minutes). Share the link my-career-path.com in your class stream or on the board. Tell students the test is about interests, not ability, and that there are no wrong answers. Hand out the class guide below.
- During (10–15 minutes). Students take the test on their own. When their results appear, they write down their top three interest types and three careers from their list on the guide.
- After (15–20 minutes). In pairs, students share one result that fits them and one that surprised them. Each student picks one career to research — what the work involves and what education it needs — and links it to a course or activity they could try next.
For more background to share with students, see the career test for teens and the student career quiz page.
Privacy facts
- Students do not need an account, a name or an email address to take the test and see their results.
- A guest's test is stored under an anonymous browser session, not under a name. If that session is never linked to an account and is not used for 90 days, it is deleted together with the test answers stored under it.
- Usage logs (for example, that a test was started or completed) are kept for 12 months; after that, their result details are removed.
- A student who chooses to create an account can delete it; deleting the account deletes their tests and answers with it.
- Messages you send us are kept for 24 months and then deleted.
Read the full Privacy Policy, and check it against your school's own rules before you assign the test.
